When you have your house on the market for sale, you should maintain it tidy. And, be prepared to show the house with in thirty minutes. Because, sometimes other agents may be out with there buyers and happen to drive by yours, and would like to show their buyer your home at a moments notice. 

Also, a clean home shows pride of ownership. A home that shows it has been kept well gives the impression that other things that can not be seen have been taken care of as well.
